Good news for everyone planning a trip onto the island or looking to head over the Strood this weekend—we have low tides all weekend long. The Strood is wide open, the road is dry, and traffic can cross back and forth smoothly without any clock-watching.
Because the road is completely clear, it's a brilliant weekend to welcome visitors down to explore, support our local spots, and enjoy the major events we have lined up. We’ve mapped out your full guide so you can plan your weekend loop perfectly.

With flat, clear, low-tide conditions all weekend, it is the prime time to get out on the water. If you fancy a proper maritime adventure, look up Explorer Fishing Charters. 🏃♂️ HARE & TORTOISE ROUND THE ISLAND RACE
WHAT'S ON: The big one! This iconic trail half-marathon makes its highly anticipated return. It is a fully signed, fully supported, single-loop trail run tracking the rugged coastal paths encompassing the entire circumference of the island. A proportion of every single entry fee goes to support the incredible work of the Mersea Island Lions Club. Grab a spot and cheer on the runners!
