The West Mersea Town Regatta is scheduled for Saturday, 15th August 2026 on Mersea Island, Essex. The week-long celebration leading up to it, Mersea Week, will take place from Sunday, 9th August to Friday, 14th August 2026.

Cobmarsh Marathon & Dinghy Races: Pair-oared rowing races around Cobmarsh Island, starting at 10:00 AM.

Mersea Week (9th–14th August 2026) [1]

Daily Racing: Features a mix of IRC, Cruisers, Classic Yachts, Smacks, and Dinghies.

Social Events: Includes daily prize-givings at 7:30 PM, hog roasts, a fancy-dress night, and live bands (e.g., Better Than Your Boyfriend) hosted at the West Mersea Yacht Club and Dabchicks Sailing Club. [1, 2, 3]

Regatta Day (15th August 2026)

Sailing Races: Smack, IRC, and Cruiser races kick off at 11:00 AM with around 100 boats. [1]

Watersports: Starts in the early afternoon on the Town Hard outside the old lifeboat station. Includes swimming races, an outboard motor balloon race, and the famous "Walking the Greasy Pole". [1]

Shoreside Attractions: Stalls, entertainment, and food on the jetty car park throughout the afternoon, concluding with a Grand Firework Display at 9:00 PM

Starting in 1981 the Mersea Island Festival has been an annual event each August at Essex Outdoors Mersea (East Mersea Youth Camp). The Festival aims to bring together young people and adults with or without a physical or learning disability. The Festival provides an opportunity to try out new activities, make new friends and have loads of fun!!!
With sponsored supporter places for those under 18, funded by @kidstherapyworksltd , and for bookings of 6 places or more - plus some limited indoor accommodation available - could this be your first year?
